This #TaxonomyTuesday Matilda has picked our 2nd #marsupial for our #MapOfLife
It is the #SugarGlider
For the first time since we started the #MapOfLife our #TaxonomyTuesday has brought us back to #Primates as Matilda has picked the #gorilla
With a new school year around the corner, Matilda has brought a new phylum to the #MapOfLife
Our first #annelid is the medicinal #leech
It's the return of our #TaxonomyTuesday and this wek Matilda has picked the humble #honeybee to join our #mapoflife
Due to Matilda's birthday, we're doing #TaxonomyTuesday on a Wednesday this week and she has asked to add a #BlackWidow spider to the #MapOfLife
I was going to do this #TaxonomyTuesday last week for #SharkWeek but I had already added the head louse to the #MapOfLife. So now it's time for Matilda's pick of the Sharks, the #Megalodon
We're bringing #SharkWeek and this #MapOfLife to a close with the #holocephali
These are another subclass of cartilaginous fish which come together with the #elasmobrachs to create the class #chondrichthyes
On day 4 of #SharkWeek we are adding some of the extinct forerunners of the sharks to our #MapOfLife
They complete the subclass known as the #Elasmobranchs
We're half way through our #SharkWeek #MapOfLife build where we are now meeting the next closest thing to sharks. The #batoidea all the ray-like fish and are classified along with the sharks as the #Neoselachii
Shark week is not distracting from our usual content and inspired by the addition of the tardigrade, Matilda thought of another #microanimal for the #mapoflife
A #headlouse (thankfully there are none in our house)
It's #TaxonomyTuesday again! Thanks to Matilda we hare having a bit of a #WaterBear week. It kicks off here with a brand new #phylum being added to the #mapoflife
#Tardigrades
For the #MapOfLife this week Matilda has taken some inspiration from @BBCSpringwatch and asked for a #BarnSwallow to be added.
Let's see what she picks for next week.
Finally! Matilda has asked for a #dinosaur to be added to the #mapoflife with good ol' #TRex
No that infographic is not wrong, clade dinosauria is alive and kicking today, as you can see from the map of life.
It's another #TaxonomyTuesday and inspired by our beach trip last week, Matilda has asked for the Lesser Spotted #Dogfish to be added to the #MapOfLife.
So here it is:
This #TaxonomyTuesday Matilda has finally brought amphibians to the #MapOfLife as we add the #GoldenDartFrog
This #TaxonomyTuesday Matilda has opted to include the Azure #Damselfly on the #MapOfLife and she's already picked next week's instalment.
All I'll say is that we're going somewhere we've not been yet... #StayTuned
It's another #TaxonomyTuesday and I'm surprised that it took so long for Matilda to pick #bats but we got there in the end. Inspired by @chesterzoo the #MapOfLife now includes the #RodriguesFruitBat
Result! Matilda has picked a new major branch to add to our #MapOfLife this week #Crustacea
She's only gone straight in with the world's biggest arthropod. It's essentially and overgrown hermit crab, the #CoconutCrab
I think we have @Octonauts to thank for this one.
This week Matilda has finally brought the #lepidoptera to the #MapOfLife by picking our first animal with a larval form. It's the #BlueMorpho #Butterfly
I realised late on that I hadn't asked Matilda for an animal for the #MapOfLife this week and she had already gone to bed. I had to make an executive decision and went for a #GreatHammerhead shark. Thankfully, Matilda approved.
