Sketch vs Final set. I have a folder where I put small versions of an initial sketch next to its final bigger brother to remind me of how important the sketch is to make a successful painting. One of the things that helps me improve the most is analyzing my own paintings.

I was always uncomfortable being described as a Neo-expressionist because the term was the product of PR more than a genuine movement of artists. The idea that it was a reaction to conceptual art was contrived in order to sell more colorful paintings.
