A persian-red pinniped. You'll notice how Vis's face and mostly everything is all squished and melty. Vis needs to be pretty hot to move fluidly, and luckily Vis has a nice warm fire tail to keep them warm. Some fool just really wanted to do the pun hoo hoo!

Juydu update, I think different variations may fill either different cetacean roles or pinniped roles. I haven't decided if they have gills or lungs yet either, which would affect how big they can get, I think.

The Common Hurn for Dragonslayer Codex. They’re a clade of protowhale that ended up very successful- monopolizing niches taken by pinnipeds in our world. They dominate the seas in a myriad of forms

These two aren’t as comparable— an armored whale and pinniped adapted to semi-abyssal dives. Maybe… these are both adaptations to avoiding Megalodons, apparently still around in this universe?

THERE'S WALRUS ENEMIES TOO, MAN WHAT DID PINNIPEDS EVER DO TO YOU

0 1

Walruses (Odobenus rosmarus) are a species of pinniped found in the Arctic Ocean & subarctic seas.

Their tusks aren’t just for fighting – they’re also used to aid locomotion, from hauling onto sea ice to stabilizing the walrus as they eat molluscs on the sea floor.

After 11 years, it's FINALLY published - a comparison of seal muscles! Spoiler: Pinnipeds have less facial muscles than most other mammals! And, facial muscles are adapted for underwater life + feeding strategies. https://t.co/0j9AH7h0Os

Took me years and 50 million sona change, but realized a Pelagiarctos (ancestral pinniped)was perfect for me.
Get to be heavyset, get both saber teeth and tusks. I prefer ‘non furred’ mammals.
I’ve always loved prehistoric animals and he stands out from the usual ones
