@dovianax A human style stereotype is literally anything to do with the human body, whether it be body type, clothes, or whatever. It's just visual shorthand to convey what type of character they are. It's always been in this franchise, since the characters are humanoid robots
@KennyLauderdal3 @invaderalex I say this without a shred of irony, Ramen Man is far less offensive to me than award winning comic, American Born Chinese which was hugely critically acclaimed, but in my eyes just reinforced heinous stereotypes that North Americans are comfortable with.

i think overseas readers/booksellers are attracted to "shonen/shojo manga" genre classifications b/c it fits our mental model of 'OK for a certain age group' + general stereotypes of "what boys like/what girls like," but we get confused the lines are blurred more than we expect
