Something interesting about realism vs fantasy is how much more stylisation the former allows over the latest. when painting or writing fantasy you need to be clear and descriptive. while with realism you are allowed to break the form so so much. ofcourse its not a simple binary

@ManiacXVII The hardest character for me to draw is, surprisingly, Sonic. Maybe I'm scared of the larger fandom, but his face and quill ratio is hard for me to not screw up.

@ItsArtNegative Depending on the stylisation you want, you can do sharp shadow like this, or smoother one.
Sharp shadow is easier to master. Cause you can easily set the object volume.
I like to do terminator, with two level of shadow and one or two level of light, with a melange of sharp/smooth
thinking of making malleus a dragon pony or closer of the sort - longma? but do i make it stylised or something like this 😭 (this is also a longma but this is the them's fightin' herds stylisation of it)
