I was gonna mention this before I forgot but the way you lined up the cast here reminds me of that spin-off idea I had where they're all superheroes, and this is just adding fuel to that fire

TL;DR, A lot of the stuff that Sonic does actually feels more inspired and in tuned with Superheroes, or Anime, not goofy, silly, slapstick cartoons, the only thing Sonic got inspired from those cartoons was the design CHOICE, not the philosophy behind it.
