my fave thing abt sargent's work is how he's able to make light reflect on shiny surfaces in the most decadent and delicate way possible...

pigeons tend to nest on flat surfaces, so the only requirements of a nest tends to be "don't let the egg roll away". this leads to comedically pathetic-looking nests -rainer

Setting up all of the 3D sketches for the surface 'scratches' on the Staff weapon. From this I will use the sketches to create surfaces that I will thicken and then subtract from the handle to create the scratches.

wip experimenting with this "flat color" style, which reminds me of my Flash animation days. not sure how unlit surfaces can exist IRL but i like the feel of it

Top and btm surfaces of the beak are dummy surfaces.
Lofted at edge. Sides were divided into front and back and two surfaces were separately. Use the edge of the cup of the helmet to make the sides with a G1. The front and rear connect of the sides are also G1 of other edges.

you can get (approximate) shading on surfaces with just a dot product to the center of the cube (light source)
from the projected position you can get the falloff with whatever falloff function you want, and multiply together. Then just add with alpha blend

Here's Palmer (2014), painted on Pro using Microsoft FreshPaint. It was used for a cover of a New York arts magazine when on exhibition back in the Fall of 2014.

(1/3) Finally logged back on Twitter bc a friend told me about Nightbringer. I’ve been gone for like 2 months??? To focus on school because it’s gotten harder. I comeback thinking “everyone must be so excited” and see the same homophobia that resurfaces every month

I love that! You already have a solid understanding on lighting and shadow which is fantastic! A great way to level it up is to consider how the light bends around curved surfaces vs flat surfaces. Good luck with your art, hope it helps!! ☺️
