In episode 19 of Vinland Saga we learned about Thorkell's relationship to Thors & Thorfinn. Thorkell had the upmost respect for Thorfinn's father, but he didn't understand why Thors wanted to leave the Jormsvikings. I feel like for 15 years Thorkell regretted not going with Thors

Then you have Thorfinn who swoops in & claims Askeladd as his own prey. Nothing will stand in Thorfinn's way when it comes to killing Askeladd with his own hands. It is only fitting that Thorfinn gets to kill his father's killer. I wouldn't have it any other way if you ask me.

also yes the episode is faithfully adapted, the tackling of Christianity is thoughtfully done but this is one of the eps where you wish you didn't read the manga and be excited at Canute's appearance LMAO
