Apparently the Netflix show changed a lot from the manga. In the Manga Taro after he got his superpowers became a vigilante for a bit with his own handmade costume before getting his Ultraman suit later. So he already had experience fighting before becoming an Ultraman.

SSSS.GRIDMAN - 7/10. Finally got around to this one, and it's fun.

Definitely gives me vibes of Big O, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Future Diary, while at its core being a 100% Trigger love-letter to classic mecha and Ultraman.

Rides coattails a tad much but good!
