Les colosses de Memnon sont tout ce qu’il reste du temple des millions d’années d’Amenhotep III (XIVe s. av. J.-C.), construit sur la rive du Nil, près de Thèbes.
Grâce à une ouverture située dans la bouche, l’air chaud qui y circulait le matin faisait « chanter » les statues.
