In #Tolkien's LotR Legolas sings the ballad of the Elven-maid Nimrodel, who lived near the eponymous river and falls close to Lothlórien. She disappeared and her mourning lover Amroth cast himself into the sea. Her voice is still echoed in Nimrodel's water music. #FairyTaleTuesday

"Aragorn hijo de Arathorn, y
Arwen hija de Elrond fueron a la hermosa colina de Cerin Amroth, en el corazón del país, y caminaron descalzos sobre la hierba inmortal entre las elanor y las niphredil (...) y se juraron eterna fidelidad y fueron felices."
Ilust: Gonzalo Díez 'Chapu'
When the era of the Elves faded, so did elanor. After the death of Aragorn and Lothlórien was fading, Arwen laid herself upon the mound of Cerin Amroth, and there was her green grave, until the world was changed and elanor and niphredil bloomed no more there.

For today’s @FolkloreThurs: how the classical myth of the nymph Arethusa and the #river-God Alpheus inspired the Elvish love story of Nimrodel and Amroth in The #LordoftheRings: https://t.co/q7xUwVXGzN

I made this #digital #painting of #ripperstreet science Jackson ( #adamrothenberg ) some times ago. I thought it would look fantastic on canvas. Today the print arrived. The thing is great but it feels a bit like a cheat. The next one will be painted by hand #fanart #art

... for Nimrodel flows into Silverlode, that Elves call Celebrant, + Celebrant into Anduin the Great, + Anduin flows into the Bay of Belfalas whence the Elves of Lórien set sail. But neither Nimrodel nor Amroth came ever back.”
