i got the modular gradients down to 5 tiles, plus a few weird special cases. you could definitely go smoother if you added more special cases, also if you went organic and abandoned the snapped gradients, but i think this is a nice economical look.

My Beatrice is heavily inspired by this piece (and my own face lol). I can't seem to find the artist despite the signature and it seems the image has largely disappeared from searches. It was one of the first drawings of Umineko I was exposed to and one of my favorite paintings.
