Found throughout Western and Eastern Europe, bronze lamps in the shape of waterfowl were likely attached to small chariots and used during burials and ceremonial activities between 1300 and 500 B.C.

2/4 Schliemann was already famous for his discovery of legendary Troy at Hisarlik in Turkey. At Mycenae he was searching for the tomb of King Agamemnon who led the Greeks against Troy. He found 19 burials at Grave Circle A. Five of which had gold funerary masks.

Did You Know: The Market District was turned into the "Memorial District" when Varen Aquilarios conquered the city? Varen used the district to bury the dead from the conflict in mass graves, which overtook the entire area and left no room for a Market once the burials were done.

Heartseeker!! It looks scary but honestly it's not its super friendly but thinks scaring people is funny. Has no malicious intent whatsoever and wishes it didn't have to eat living things to survive, makes little burials for the remains it can't eat. A sweetheart

And here is the Gashadokuro (がしゃどくろ)! These fearsome yokai are gigantic skeletons - made from the bodies of soldiers and those died of the famine that didn't get proper burials. Quite fascinating, them!

Gnomes love to recycle! This also includes mass burials of murdered victims that eventually sprout into beautiful flora to match the natural beauty of the landscape🌱💀#conceptart

Many explorers and whalers ended their lives in the Arctic cold and were buried there. Permafrost has preserved their burials for centuries. Svalbard has more than 800 known whalers’ graves from the 17th and 18th century.

Such a small patch of now beautiful countryside, hard to imagine the scale of losses within this area. Overlay of “body density map” ( yes I know some don’t like this name!) gives an indication as the numbers show known burials. Aerials of High Wood and Delville 1916.

Objects - and people - struck by lightning were viewed with reverence and awe in Ancient Greece. Those killed by lightning were called dioblêtoi, "Those smitten by Zeus," and were often given special burials.
