I loved planning this Y2 art sequence based on the Great Fire of London. These are last year’s final pieces. Lots of small steps in learning over 6 weeks, alongside experimentation with paint, pen, chalk & charcoal. The children drew on tracing paper so the flames glowed through!

My fascination with abstract art began when I visited
the Asger Jorn museum in Denmark. However, abstract art was not easy for me, because I was used to making naturalistic art. My breakthrough finally came when I started making cubist pieces in charcoal.

I’m a bit angry right now, but in a healthy way. I have every right to be angry as I am losing a dream that I became really attached too.
