Saw a couple of his paintings at The Courtauld Gallery yesterday when we were going in to see the Van Gogh Portraits exhibition.

Have fond memories of the now Musée de Montmartre where he worked & painted La balançoire. Plus his film director son, Jean's biography about him.

☁️🌊 Airy representations of sky and water are a prominent feature of Turner’s Lucerne subjects. The cliff in the mist has been identified as a rocky promontory between Brunnen and Fluelen in the Bay of Uri.

Artist Henry Fuseli was born in 1741.

Rendered with exaggerated proportions and arranged in an impossibly sinuous pose, this enigmatic back view of an unknown woman exudes an unsettling eroticism.

Cézanne painted and drew the Montagne Sainte-Victoire from different vantage points throughout his career, each time finding a new mood or atmosphere.

This painting is the most monumental and highly finished of three canvases he devoted to this particular view.
