@StarBlues11 Donkey Kong is the champion hero of the Jungle Kingdom and Cranky’s heir, much like how Mario has become the champion of the Mushroom Kingdom and heir to his family’s plumbing business (alongside Luigi.) And there is pressure from both sides to succeed + live up to expectation.
@StarBlues11 Yeah and I think it’d make the most sense if Jumpman was Mario and Luigi’s father instead of Mario himself because he probably did some pretty unethical things in his youth like caging up Cranky Kong and training him as a circus animal, separating him from his family…

@TomAndTheCats Cranky (who was then known by his real name, “Donkey Kong” or “Donkey Kong Sr.”) would’ve been captured by Jumpman and trained as a circus animal. He escaped but was recaptured, then DK Jr. found a way to free him. They would both go back home to the Jungle Kingdom after that.
@TomAndTheCats With the logic that the Mushroom Kingdom is a separate dimension from Brooklyn in the movie, much like how it is in Super Show, that could mean Cranky discovered Brooklyn when the modern Donkey Kong / DK Jr. was a just child.
