"Why, I, in this weak piping time of peace, Have no delight to pass away the time, Unless to spy my shadow in the sun
And descant on mine own deformity?"

I love this project so much it brings good mood. Many thx for creating it. Stay all safe and be brave! 😙

I like it enough to post, I suppose. The lamia Anastasia "Descant" Spriggan, at your service. Call her a naga and she'll swallow you whole.

I forgot to mention: the botanical paintings could be attributed to John Tradescant the Younger or his wife Ester Pooks, but its unknown who really drew them. Which is a shame bc I really like the animal faces 👀

The last member of the Commelinaceae we have in is Tradescantia (spiderwort). Like Murdannia, these have that are also subtended by a leaf-like bract & are actinomorphic, grow in umbels or cymes, are blue or white, & have 5-6 fertile stamens.

On with the second semi-final: 'Tradescant's Orchard' versus the 'Ormesby Psalter'. Both a feast for the eyes; both worth spending a while gazing at side-by-side in gloriously high detail here: https://t.co/HZy3GAQHG7

Fittingly for the first day of today's features 'Tradescant's Orchard', a guide to the ripening dates of orchard fruits. The competition? MS. Canon. Misc. 213, our rare copy of early secular songs. https://t.co/i9p2745d34
