Miniature Dioramas. More often seen in 19th century museums - The diorama was invented by Louis Daguerre and Charles Marie Bouton, first exhibited in Paris in July 1822 & in London on September 29, 1823.The meaning "small-scale replica of a scene, etc." is from 1902.
The 'Tunnel Books" of Andrea Dezso. These multi-layered paper cut-outs reveal miniature worlds of folklore that viewers can peek into - like dioramas. Tunnel books belong in the same family as the carousel books & toy theaters that were extremely popular during the Victorian era.

I had completely forgotten that last week I started to paint a series of dioramas. More to come (hopefully).
