Also this particular arc is where we saw the first Echidna besides Knuckles in the comic. For some reason, Doctor Finitevus in the Archie comics and Imperator Ix in Dark Brotherhood are also white. I guess it's just a fun colour for evil Echidnas.

The nameless echidna is based on the echidnas from Sonic Adventure. There is little to no similarities between Locke and the movie echidna at all, aside from being echidna dads.
