Edward, Captain of the Royal Guard, means ‘protector’

Garreth means gentle & brave, which also matches his personality and role in the book

Garreth did end up realizing his mistakes AFTER he found out that Eros was pregnant, the child died(accidentally shattered) because of Garreth, but he never knew so it's mostly Eros' fault
