honestly for the time it's not the worst job, or that bad. For one all three had transforming mecha, hell even Mospedea has mecha that could be thought of as new versions of the Valk and it even had a gerwalk form.

VF-1 Armored Valkyrie don't have walking animation in ground missions. It hover like gerwalk.

They made a battle suit out of a Dreadnought chassis, surely they can make a smaller mech for this thing. Make it look like a land vehicle equivalent to the VF-1 Valkyrie gerwalk mode from Macross.
