Unlike 46 Okunen Monogatari, Mercury got a 1991 PC-98 sequel but no console version/remake. I wish I had any sales data.

Maxima lasted until around 1993 when they released one last JRPG, Legend of Shalice, a much more conventional take on the genre at least in its presentation.

SMT 1 honestly has some of my favorite stuff in any JRPG, despite the encounter rates in some areas being bonkers.

The Atmosphere and tension they were able to portray is honestly amazing especially for 1992.

I have a stronger PC now,so what JRPGS on Steam do you guys recommend? This can be ANY JRPG, yes even jrpgs with dark themes and subject matter. I will consider buying these jrpgs at some point. (Such as during the summer sale)

You can try the Cyber Sleuth games if you want a "typical" monster collecting turn-based JRPG, or wait for Digimon Survive to come out in July if you prefer a(n allegedly) darker, story/choice-focused approach!

is a pretty cool JRPG, but def. feels like it wasn't made to run on There's performance issues, and I'm not the biggest fan of the game's UI. However, the core battle mechanics work pretty well and make the overall experience an enjoyable one.
