TIL Edmund Dantes from classic French novel 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑀𝑜𝑛𝑡𝑒 𝐶𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑜, as he appears in 𝐹𝑎𝑡𝑒: 𝐺𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑂𝑟𝑑𝑒𝑟 is drawn by Rui Komatsuzaki (𝐷𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑎𝑛𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑝𝑎) and I may never fully recover from this.
So the reason the in-game swimsuits are different compared to the visual key art (or start screen) in DRS is because theyr were desighed by 2 different people. The Key Art was designed by Rui Komatsuzaki and the in-game are designed by the Spike Chunsoft game devs and designers.

Shigeru Komatsuzaki, légende de la rétro SF japonaise des années 60-70, a réalisé cette illustration pour Metal Gear Solid 2, à ses 86 ans en 2006 (année de sa mort, c'est donc son dernier travail officiel !)

@z_merquise Yep. Same artist. Rui Komatsuzaki. No wonder there was a crossover promotion of Akudama Drive and Danganronpa last year. Two other similar characters are Nagito and Cutthroat who start caring but then are revealed as insane.

From Cola's detective work it def seems the Rui Komatsuzaki version - the one released for the new clearfile - was the original, and was used as the basis for the final anime-art style artwork, similar to the Akudama Drive key art, but was never released publically (til now)
