I think the Exiles was my favorite early 00s title. Not the least because one of my favorite artists of the era, Mike McKone, was involved. He really has a style that reminded me of Alan Davis (Excalibur). Not edgy but fun and dynamic. Also Nocturne rocks.

An Ares a Day to Keep the Amazons Away

Day 26: Ares gives Cassie her lasso and promises not to abandon her. The beginning of an intriguing yet tragically underdeveloped and underutilized relationship 😔

wouldn't be til 2001, with Judd Winick and Mike McKone, in the Exiles that I would find a Marvel title I enjoyed as much as early Excalibur.

Probably didn't hurt they had Nocturne (Talia Wagner), aka the daughter of Nightcrawler and Scarlet Witch.

I've only just got to it. Nice to still have surprises in issues I've overlooked. Yeah. It's a very different McKone and really interesting and against the Henry Flint, works perfectly. A very nice standalone Batman story (Detective 622-624 in case anyone's wondering)
