Hooded Mergansers are rightly esteemed for their, well, hoods. But this one wants you to remember that they have cool tails, too.

The species is beginning its annual spring withdrawal from Colorado, but a few will hang on to molt or nest or both. Get 'em while they're good!

I really need to add to this collection and get the first three reprinted. Belted kingfisher, hooded merganser, and blue jay. These were done at least a couple of years ago.

Another great day of birding with a lifer of White-fronted Goose at Loch Ken. Seawatch from Stranraer produced a Merlin, Red-throated Diver, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers and 8 Goldeneye. Also a big raft of ducks any ideas what they are? Maybe Eiders? Sorry for bad pics
