Featuring: Miragaia & Stegosaurus!

Miragaia was a stegosaur that seemed like it wanted to be a sauropod! It had the longest neck known of any stegosaur, with possibly around 17 vertebrae. Its named after the parish of Miragaia, Portugal, where its bones were found nearby!

Day 30: Thirsty Miragaia.
How’s it started: How’s it going?:

Miragaia the long-necked stegosaur performing a courtship ritual that involves kicking poop around while trying to look elegant. Don’t judge - I’m sure single Miragaias love it.

The neck is composed of an astonishing 17 vertebrae, surpassing most sauropods! It was thus probably somewhat flexible, & arose either through sexual selection or exploiting some ecological niche (upper mid-level browsing?)
