It was a long and exhausting project.
It took a lot of time and effort not only for drawing but also the preparation for it. I spend time collecting references of the Belarusian costume and ornament by visiting local history museums.

According to Petro Andriushchenko, advisor to Mariupol mayor, stolen artworks include paintings of Ivan Aivazovsky (master of marine art) and Mariupol-native Arkhip Kuindzhi, ancient icons, and medals.

I still find it incredible that these are all backgrounds/concept art for a Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. This is feature film quality stuff, heck, I could see some of these in museums.

Honestly, I could see a few more new steam engines arriving on Sodor in the Railway Series during the late 90s and early 00s, from being brought from heritage railways and museums. The Extended Railway Series did this exact thing, and I think it's a great concept.
