Alcaphages are the Abyss's white blood cells. They wander aimlessly but they are drawn to places of infections. If you touch one, it'll pull you in and dissolve you. Their task to bump into things that aren't supposed to be in the Abyss and remove them. They are very dangerous.

The Abyss's cells.
The red ones are called Bluddies, the white ones are called Alcaphages, and the Cherente-colored ones are called Caretaker Smileys.

1/5 New lab paper in from Dr David Picton. We show complementary action of two systems within a phage-defence island. BREX and type IV restriction provides robust protection against a wide range of phages. https://t.co/IxVl7AX3Ih

It is !

Let's start from the basics,
Do you know what are?

Take a little **hint** from the image :) and let us know ?

Session 3 of is starting now!! I would like to highlight the talk of on sequence-specific toxicity of dCas9 in bacteria! Come more numerous than phages come for bacteria!

I draw and paint bacteriophages and bacteria. I try to put them all in my Redbubble shop! https://t.co/6m0p9dqoUD

The Macrophages are one of my favourites. I love how they're one of the strongest and yet they look the most elegant <3

I have a lot of phage images, how many do you need! All the phages on earth weigh the same as 100,000 blue whales and they account for 20-50% of all deaths of bacteria. Some archaeal viruses (similar to phages) can continue to expand outside their hosts.

4 15

Not all phages kill their hosts, some inject DNA and piggyback bacteria as they grow and divide. phage can help their bacterial hosts: making them stronger or deadly, we check our phage's DNA to ensure they don't make bacteria into superbugs.

Good morning so I'm coloring one monster-girl but DAMN this is much harder than I thought. In any case, this is WIP of the Merphages.

What else can phages do to increase their chance of infection? ( MICRO-O-OMICS 83)

Never would've thought I'd get commissioned to draw two macrophages from Cells At Work in Warhammer 40k power armour and duking it out a la Emperor vs. Horus! Probably one of the most fun commissions that I've worked on

What about phages? How can they increase their chance of infecting bacteria ? My new series cover that.
Enjoy :)

Macrophyte (Fighting/Psychic): are part of the immune system that phagocytosis pathogens. In other words, they eat any intruders or weird cells in the body.

1 4

Minicyte (Fighting/Psychic): Monocytes are a kind of that eat up any cell debris and can turn into macrophages near infection sites.

Great talk on desert microbes and their phages by Thulani Makhalanyane for yesterday. Getting used to sketching while listening to talks so I don't get distracted (any mention of phages stops that!). https://t.co/Pi9178pZXs
