He's a necromancer of some repute; not necromancer in the "take over the world with the dead", but more the kind of "give you a final goodbye" with your loved ones type.

A kindly soul, very quiet but likes to help travelers get back on the path after they get lost. His lantern does spook quite a few people, though...
