Somsnosa as a character is largely inspired by Mason's previous works, notably the game of the same name. Many have noted that a character who appears in Mason's "Teardrop" game (as well as Hylics' files) resembles her.
It's possible her design originated as a pallet swap.

It's a common misconception that the exterior of the starting house of Somsnosa (RPG) and Somsnosa's house from share the same sprites. In actuality, they're only similar in general shape.
However, the houses' interiors are practically identical.

Somsnosa seems to be the only party member who would return in Hylics 2 at this point, but with a new outfit (prompting discussion as to whether or not she was actually Somsnosa.) Her house from Hylics 1 also appears, suggesting Hylics 1 and 2 originally shared locations. (5/10)

One of the other party members was Fleam, whose fight was reused for the Motor Hunters battle, his armor for Dedusmuln, his face for Somsnosa, and his name for an enemy.
Fleam would first be fought in a car, which would crash after his defeat. He would then join the party. (3/10)
