I'm in unfamiliar territory here #SundayFishSketch, but for E's @drawanotherfish fantastic suggestion I had to try my hand at a fish from memory. In order to save my blushes I've gone relatively simple with a Swordfish from memory!!
For this week's #SundayFishSketch, I started to draw a Yellowhead Jawfish. I saw this fish for the first time at the @zooberlin aquarium and watched them build their burrows for longer than was probably necessary. #SciArt #digitalpainting
For today's #SundayFishSketch, I chose to play with @adobefresco again and add another set of jaws to my growing cartoon diagram. Here are the jaws of Neoclinus blanchardi, the sarcastic fringehead! #SciArt #Ichthyology #FishSci
All dogs are actually wolves! So for the doggo themed #SundayFishSketch, I added to my growing diagrams of fish jaws with Anarrhichthys ocellatus, a wolf eel! #Dog #Doggo #WolfEel #FishSci @adobefresco #SciArt
A #steelhead as my guess for this week's #sundayFishSketch, plus an idea I was working on while procrastinating for SundayFishSketch. PS, the black box on the second image is only there to block out a bad word.

Not on theme for my #sundayfishsketch, just continuing my work on this spiky fella. #sciart
An old sketch of an American eel for the Thanksgiving-themed #SundayFishSketch, as eels were among the fish eaten by the Wampanoag people of Massachusetts. While eels were once abundant along the Atlantic coast, they - like other migratory fish - were impacted by dams.
This isn't one of my normal sketches for #SundayFishSketch, but my hands have been in poor shape this week. I've been trying out #AdobeFresco and decided to illustrate the oral jaws+ of Caquetaia spectabilis for both myself and my undergrads. #Ichthyology #SciArt #FishSci
I know it's a cop out to recycle a #SundayFishSketch, but this opah from back in July is on point, and one of my faves I ever did.
For this week's #SundayFishSketch, I chose a tetra with beautifully red fins, Hyphessobrycon columbianus. https://t.co/s7Imc5y2PW #Ichthyology #SciArt #FishSci.
For the Father's Day edition of the #SundayFishSketch, I give you the male bluehead chub, who builds a pebble nest and guards the eggs after the female lays them. In honor of all the good works of my favorite husband and father, @courchesnec. He's carried his share of pebbles.
In contribution to #SundayFishSketch, here is an eel pen that my son drew for me last year. He got me an eel pin for Christmas, but wanted to get a pen. He couldn't find one to match his vision, though...
For #SundayFishSketch, here's a throwback of Lunaspis, the Devonian placoderm whose name appropriately means 🌙🛡️ (weird to remember the entire 1st half of 2018 for me was drawing the Paleozoic with colored pencils in a sketchbook) #paleoart #sciart #scientificillustration #art
For this week's #SundayFishSketch, it would seem that @Lampichthys and I both had catostomids on the brain. Moxostoma carinatum, a river redhorse. #SciArt #FishSci #Ichthyology #Art
Been wanting to paint a quillback rockfish, Sebastes maliger, for awhile. Not entirely happy with it, but for a quick #SundayFishSketch, I'll chalk it up to good practice. Always love seeing all the #SundayFishSketch contributions! Made with @DANIELSMITH_ART #watercolors .
For this week's #SundayFishSketch, Labidesthes sicculus, a brook silverside. I've always enjoyed this fish - very unique. Hopefully, I did it justice. #SciArt #Ichthyology
Highlights from the #Paleostream. Pachycostasaurus feasting on Leedsichthys, a Scalacurvichthys for #SundayFishSketch, Sinopterus picking fruits from a stream and sleepy Tiarajudens. #paleoart #sciart @TetZoo @PycnoJoe
...and for THIS week’s #sundayfishsketch, here’s a big, beautiful Pacific white shark affectionately known as Scar Girl. Haha thanks @Lampichthys for helping me get my calendar straight!! #sciart
#SundayFishSketch, my best shot at a Chrysiptera hemicyanea. A pomacentrid, as prompted by @Lampichthys. #sciart #Ichthyology #BiologyAsArt
Another #SundayFishSketch, this time the extinct coelacanth, #Rebellatrix
