The "Inclusive Question of the Week" is, "are there any good news stories about disABILITY?" Of course! Just have a search of online news sites. There's amazing SEND teachers, fundraising for charities, & new innovations making life easier, & more!

My 2nd good news story is a running one. A vision-impaired runner was helped by a stranger to finish a marathon. Haseeb Ahmad was 18 miles in when his guide runner had to stop. The next runner, Stuart Whitehouse, took over & they crossed the finish line together!

6) Myth: All people who use a wheelchair cannot walk. FALSE.
There are many reasons someone may only sometimes use a wheelchair. They could have Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and on their ‘bad’ days they might choose to use their chair.

4) 2% of the working age population becomes disabled each year. In addition, 78% of disabled people acquire their impairment aged 16 or older (Source: Employers' Forum on Disability). Another thought provoking fact.

The other film I've recently watched is actually a series of two. "A Quiet Place" and "A Quiet Place Part II". Aliens can only identify people through sound. The hero is hearing-impaired and holds the key to survival. Two great films.

Just a reminder of what I like this group to do. Champion inclusion with a focus on disABILITY. For me, we need a positive narrative so, no cures, normalcy or ableism. Is that OK?
