So I actually really enjoyed the Chip 'n Dale movie, it had a really fun premise...

But then the 2.5D had it feeling like they were cheapening that premise.

Besides that it was a great film with good humour and references to animation, so the lack of 2D just felt unfortunate...

I recently played a bit of the Japanese PC-88 port of MicroProse's F-15 Strike Eagle. It seems to come with a more sophisticated 2.5D engine than its western 8-bit counterparts, and has a banger opening theme, so I'm happy with this one.
