I’m struggling so hard with the colors y’all don’t even know. I tried to stick to the Splatoon colors but applying them to the outfits is hard. :’)

I’m especially not sure about the jacket hhh— maybe I should lighten the colors??

Let me note this here bc it got me thinking
The way I apply shadow to a flat color drawing is
picking a dark greyish purple, applying it with a solid brush on an overlay layer (layer opacity adjusted as necessary)
Now the gradient, I've done two ways, which do you prefer?

When it came to just exploring a lot of techniques, I often end up testing most of them traditionally first before applying them digitally. Often times I don't color traditionally, but practicing coloring digitally helped with how I normally shade on paper
