Jellyfish inklings would be so cool
I have anthro jellyfish OCs that have a lot in common with Inklings, I made them before I got into Splatoon though so the similarities are pure coincidence but it is really funny.
The jellyfish characters I have have a lot of lore, too

purple fingertips? i think the purple in her design is just to contrast her yellow ink. as for the fingertip coloration itself: its something weve previously seen on octolings but not on inklings... perhaps with new cultural integration, inklings have learned how to as well?

the splatoon team has shown us that inklings, like humans, can have a lot of diversity. while our player character models are limited, in-universe its a different story. these are all considered normal inklings. look at the varied eye masks, faces,...they can even have blue skin!
