Many fans of the genre consider the nineties a nadir for superheroes. It was a wilderness. There were some great books, but the genre kinda lost its way.

This makes it interesting and pointed that “Batman v. Superman” draws so heavily from it, even carrying over the grimness.

'Superboy' as an intellectual property has been wasted since 'Superboy & the Legion of Superheroes.'

Though done in a Garth Ennis way (which is totally different than Alan Moore) I think 's "The Boys" is just as valid & important as Watchmen when it comes to commentaries on the realities of world of superheroes. There are no perfect human beings - even super ones
