August VNs seems quite liked and Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai is no exception. I read a little bit of the beginning but really didn't like that the beginning OF COURSE had to have a stupid accidental pervert scene. I'd like to see how the story supposedly vastly improves over this.

Raging Loop is one of the most popular mystery VNs in recent history. It helps it kinda has a 'mafia' like setting and it has some actual adult age characters, especially its protag. There were some criticism that made me concerned but otherwise seems like an interesting read.

I talked about Cartagra before and got some mixed responses if whether to do it before Kara no Shoujo or at all. Either way KnS does seem like one of the better darker mystery VNs that exist. I'm just afraid of the specific gameplay order you need to do. Would likely walkthrough.

Wicked Willow by is a unique visual novel. Unlike in more traditional vns, there is no true ending, rather every choice holds equal weight & its own merit. Couple this with the amazing art work, & you're in for a unique VN.

Hoshi Ori Yume Mirai is one of of the most popular translated VNs that are purely slice of life. I am interested in it and toneworks VNs. However, I heard the character routes are VERY long and almost drama-less. This would be a perfect VN to read handheld in short bursts.
