The haystack of Pacific City, Oregon (not the more famous one in Cannon Beach) for today’s “cerulean” prompt. This rock and all of Oregon’s sea stacks are cool — leftover volcanic basalt from a jillion years ago (that’s the scientific term, right?)

Gasosaurus

A mysterious theropod with an estimated lenght of 3.5 meters, its bones where found during the construction of a gas facility

ALT: its only known from fragmentary postcranial material and some teeth, which has made classifying it difficult, but it seems to be basal

Multiple sources argue about Solidago juncea vs missouriensis. They both have basal leaves & bloom at about the same time but otherwise… Maybe one has less prominent leaf veins except when it doesn’t? Maybe?

Meanwhile O. rigidum aka S. rigida is classy, easily ID’d, & thriving

Muscular women are the best.

Also, more Basalt content.

Pakicetus

A 2 meter long wolf like cetacean, it lived around lakes and ate fish and small animals, its currently the most basal whale known

ALT: the walking whale, one of the most completely known early cetaceans, while it still had functional legs it was somewhat amphibious

These trolls are adapted from basal primates, and look radically different. While not being bipeds initially, they're a work in progress that tries to hit all the notes of troll design.
