@JazzyTyfighter I’m not quite sure how to answer, personally — I do a bit of both.
In my case, I tend to mostly do hard lighting because it suits my style, but airbrushed lighting can also work well for more impactful results. Sometimes I mix both in one image.

For facials, we had some facial parts hand-drawn before but we increased in what we can accomplish in 3DCG. We wanted to have the choice of reflecting more three-dimensional acting for entire scene.

It really amazes me (maybe even showcases how downplayed Cass kind of is being "the best" fighter amongst the Bat-Family) that she's had a personal history with Deathstroke as well. But that's been brushed under the carpet compared to Dick's.
Depending on the amount of colors in the gradient map, some airbrushed things, i.e. the cheek blush (since it has a LOT of values) might turn into more of a blob!
There are only so many colors in a gradient map to color all the values, you see

Tips if u wanna draw inkwell
-His Quills are brushed down like a weird hill
-His bowler hat should be facing up and not over his ears
-His pants/suspenders/arms/ear bits are grey
-his gloves are white
-His actual fur is a really dark grey (NOT BLACK)
-His hat/eyes r black
