For today’s my take on Dineobellator notohesperus, a Velociraptorine dromaeosaur from Late Cretaceous North America, that was described yesterday. Because if there is a new Dromaeosaur I can’t help myself

A pretty nasty fever has kept me indisposed this past week or so, unable to draw any Please accept this humble offering, a couple I drew 2 years ago on the day.

Seriemas are the closest living relatives of prehistoric "terror birds". I also LOVE seriema feet, which have an inner toe held slightly elevated, much like early dromaeosaurs (think velociraptor).

Finally, there is direct fossil evidence for comparatively large remiges in some of the animals concerned, one of the best examples being the mid-sized dromaeosaur Zhenyuanlong (art here by ).

Behold! my carnivore list!
Torvosaurus, moros, masiakasaurus, cerato, sino dromaeosaurus, ichthyovenator and australovenator (and technically the cryo race and dreg'jin should be in the carnivore list as well but I lost the will to live lol)

So I got a new pet. Made the left half of this for a textbook illustration (originally to show how to measure a tree), and thought to add something more interesting. My first idea was a dromaeosaur, but has definitely done that earlier and better!

Dromaeosaur at Dusk.
A speculative dromaeosaur, inspired by modern day vultures. Whilst many species were undoubtedly predatory, perhaps some were also carrion-feeders, cleaning up the carcasses left behind by larger carnivorous theropods.
