It's Folktale Week again! I love this art challenge. Check out here and on Insta. Day 1: Fool

Folktale Week is heeere! I wrote my own story this year, posted on Insta. But it starts with a witch with a broken heart...

I’m using prompts as an excuse to play around with my sorely neglected collection of physical art materials. Day 1 is “fool.”

First piece for Folktale Week 2022! My favorite Chelm story for the prompt “fool.”
For Isaac Bashevis Singer’s retelling of how these fools thought they trapped the moon in a barrel, read more here: https://t.co/jDdF3G2VSn

no 1:Fool. Make a hole in a hollow pumpkin. Put seeds inside. Baboon tries to grab the seeds but his clenched fist wont come out. He is caught! Alt versions of the tale - a hole in the ground and salt, or a hollow coconut tied to a tree.

The first day of and the first prompt is FOOL. I felt drawn to the optimism of the fool in the tarot. Representing freedom, spontaneity & adventure 💫 The fool is also thought to be reckless, distracted & naive… But let’s focus on the positive bits shall we?!

Sneak peak sketches from The Fairy Flag season II: "A Scottish reverie"... working on it 🤪 ☕️

This is a story
Made (up) with
a stick,
a stone,
a legend...
and a song...
A perfect song for my wee trobairitz...

We did a fun episode on The Mermaid Wife and Selkie stories for this week's podcast episode! It seems like Stockholm Syndrome doesn't always work in fairy tales! Come hear this exciting story with us and learn more about male Selkies & migratory folktales!
