Unlike the early generations, Gen 5's designers drafted reference sheets for every Pokemon they created. These reference sheets were used by the sprite animators, anime staff, and outside illustrators so they knew what Pokemon looked like from every angle.

I REALLY love the attention to detail at Classic Sonic's posture in Sonic Forces. After Generations, Forces shows Modern Sonic's style has rubbed on him a bit.

It makes sense since he looks up to Modern Sonic.
