I'm seeing discourse about wanting happier Black supernatural stories so I wanna remind everyone that I have a self-published, illustrated novel series that's Sailor Moon meets unapologetically queer Black Girl Magic. I have books and merch available :)

I understand if you're with a corporate publishing house, you probably don't have much control over the cover, but if you're self-published, for the love of God, PAY SOME EXTRA FOR A GOOD COVER.

It's an investment. https://t.co/88H7uivHKV

A little note for any self-published authors:

I wrote DEAR LAURA in two months, painted my own cover and formatted and edited it myself. It was nominated for a Bram Stoker Award in 2020 and has sold nearly 2,000 copies since June 2019. Not huge numbers, but decent.

Keep going.
