:) last wip of these bc I really like how the underpaints of both of these have come out
I shouldn't go straight into detail until doing the ENTIRE rough underpainting....but I can't help myself 😩
Thought that I would share the underpainting for a piece that I have been working on. This was a very fun and challenging piece. The visuals came to me very quickly and so it was a rush to get it down and well before I lost it. The studies can be found at Instagram @moravianart.
Progress goes slowly, but surely on my version of Temperance for the Woven Path Tarot! The underpainting for watercolors always look surprising. She’ll be transforming with the next layers of paint!

Beginning underpainting stages, excuse the janky handwriting. This is genuinely fun. I haven't done this in a really long time.
New painting inspired by Stanwell Park. “Morning Tide”, 85X85cm, oil on linen.
Most of my paintings have what I call a “weird bit”. It’s usually a section of underpainting that is so unique, that I can’t bear to cover it up even though it makes no sense in the finished painting.
