Two more sketches to prepare for I think that’s enough for now.

Reference from , and my old ‘Bride’ painting inspired by Palestinian folklore.

I’ve got a long standing obsession with Baba Yaga and her weird chicken-legged hut. It’s that cool weird fantasy intersection where RPGs smash into folklore that gets me. So many gifted writers have done great riffs off this fable. Art by the legend, Jeff Easley.

the ghost woman (poj ntxoog) is well-known in Hmong folklore as one of the scariest spirits you can encounter. there's different tales on how poj ntxoog look and hunt, but regardless, never trust any woman you meet at night.

I recently got nostalgic for akita, japan, where i lived for awhile. I fell in love with the local folklore, especially the Namahage, which are ogres that come down on new year to scare children. I wanted to honor the traditional masks with some art!

The tradition of "counting crows" as a divination tool began in 17th c. Europe.

"One for sorrow
Two for mirth
Three for a wedding
Four for a birth
Five for rich
Six for poor
Seven for a witch
I can tell you no more."

FAIRY ENCHANTMENT the fae cast an enchantment over woodland animals and birds; bird-riding fae are commonplace in folklore as seen in the fantastical world of French author and illustrator Jean-Baptiste Monge and his delightful transport

In Kerry, it’s said the fox and the duck had a competition
to see who was first to announce the day.
The sly fox stayed up all night & in the morning
the fox said ‘oh duck, duck …’
But the smart duck woke up & called out, ‘day! day!’
So the duck is first!

In Scottish folklore, a kelpie is a dangerous shape-shifting water creature that can appear on land as a horse. The kelpie appears to their human victims as a grey, black or white horse, entices them to ride on their back, then carries them down to a watery grave.
