I’d often noodle around too much with my work, mostly due to a lack of confidence.

I’d judge the work while making it.
- That line sucks
- These colors suck
- This composition sucks

Don’t do that. It slows you down.

Just do the work--

The process:

1. Sketch - focus on creating interesting shapes, character design, and composition
2. Underpainting - lay in base tones and temperature spots
3. Texture - lay in textures, wrapping around forms
4. Lighting and FX - choose light source, make it pop!
