this was actually finished around half a year ago and it's one of the most demanding illustrations I've done -- one of the best too. the main goal was capturing the sheer darkness of the build; the motifs of the tree, the feathers and blood are all very important here

Years later, Coyotefeather, having lost Nightstep to a dog attack, and with both parents dead, finally took on an apprentice: a nervous little she-cat named Morningpaw. The two had a silent start, but soon enough Morningpaw broke through Coyote’s tough exterior.
Coyotefeather was born to Brightshine, along with her late sister Citrushop. I don’t have much of her early life figured out yet, but I can say that it was overall…interesting. Coyote was apprenticed to the current healer, and felt it was her calling from the start!
In light of a commission I recently got, I wanted to share a special oc of mine, Coyotefeather! She’s the elder healer of her colony, and she’s had a long life full of loss and love. (A thread🧵)
