I think the main thing that separates them from Pokemon is that Mons are heavily based on 2 or 3 things, while TemTem are lightly based on 1 or 2. For example, Rookidee is Eng Bird + knighthood, and it expands on that as it evolves, while Zephyruff is just bird + cloud. Nothing
