One final thing to note. The starkness of the shadows is defined by how far away the light source is or the point where the light is squeezing through is. Atmosphere also affects this, more particles in air, less defined shadows as the light scatters due to the particles.

oh, btw. I played around some more with the brush yesterday. I think it got pretty close to how it's intended without tilt by setting the particle size somewhere between 0.05-0.10 and activating pen pressure with full range for that parameter.
