Typhlosion always felt very feral and I wanna emphasize on that a teensie bit more
and Quilava I always felt a bit unsure about

For me Gen 2 pokémon in general feel very... soft ? The colors always seem to appear a bit dull for the most part, a bit barebones if you will

Cyndaquil! I've loved this little dude for years and thats no exception with Quilava or Typhlosion!

Fun fact, I pronounced Typhlosion as "Tie-fuh-law-fuh-gus" until I was 12. I have zero clue why but I did. I was not a smart child when it came to Pokemon

Close-ups from this image, plus a bonus Typhlosion that I was going to use for "rodent," but I couldn't do Typhlosion dirty like that. It's not its fault the English name didn't translate to be appropriately samurai-related when they invented it like 20-something years ago.

Thought this was going to be Typhlosion? As much as I love the (literally) flaming honeybadger, in terms of practical use Torterra is king. Dishes out pain and cannot be clobbered by anything unless it's Ice type. Even then, all it needs is to survive, and it can use Stone Edge.

Takes hits like an absolute champion, learns many things to cover its weaknesses and destroy opponents, has a rock-solid design (pun totally intended), poops dirt and is a great reward for the effort of obtaining one.
